Today is December 1st! Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who’s been waiting for this day to come for months… I really love Christmas and the “hygge” in December.
“Hygge” is a Danish term to describe a situation that is both cosy and joyful. Sadly, the term only exists in Danish. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t “hygge” yourself. You don’t have to be Danish or speak Danish, haha.
Today I’ll share 5 ways you can “hygge” this month to make it a December to remember. Are you ready to make it the best yet December of your life?
Decorate while listening to Christmas music
If you haven’t decorated for Christmas yet… hurry up! Nothing is more “hyggeligt” than listening to Christmas music while decorating and drinking tea with friends or family. This is a must in order to get into the Christmas spirit.
Bake Christmas cookies
Christmas cookies vary from country to country so I’m not going to tell you what cookies to bake. The important thing is that you set some time aside to bake some lovely cookies for you and your loved ones. This is also a great group activity.
Karaoke night in
Some people love going out and some people prefer staying in. A great idea for a “hyggelig” night in with the friends is to do karaoke with Christmas songs. You probably only listen to Christmas songs in November and December so make sure to sing them enough to get tired of them.
Go to church
If you celebrate Christmas you are most likely Christian (I don’t judge if that is not your case) so going to church makes more sense than ever during December. All days from the 1st to the 23rd are practically warm up-days for the big “Jesus was born on this day 2017 years ago”-party for the church.
Tell people that you care about them
“I love you” are big words to use so instead you can say “I just want to let you know that I really care about you.” No matter what you say, make sure to tell people what they mean to you. Christmas is a time for joy and gratitude plus 2017 is soon over and you want to go into 2018 with a positive mind, right?
I wish you all a blessed December and a joyful Christmas if you celebrate.
Stay happy, stay beautiful
