A couple of weeks ago I had a really bad day. I didn’t get enough sleep, I thought about assignments and homework from the second I woke up, I couldn’t focus at school, my dog was annoying and I ended up sitting in bed scrolling through Instagram and being sad about not being out having fun like everyone else… but then I thought about why I wasn’t out having fun with my friends.
The only answer was that I didn’t have time. I was too busy, too stressed about everything going on… but I had time to spend 1-hour scrolling through social media and drinking coffee…
That didn’t make sense.
I realised that I did have time to go out and have fun with my friends. I just didn’t prioritise my time and ended up doing nothing for too long time while feeling stressed. Can you relate? If so, let me tell you something.
You are the only person to decide what you should be doing. If you spend too much time doing nothing there’s no one else to blame but yourself.
So even though you’ve spent the last hour on Facebook not being productive you can still turn the day around. You can still be productive NOW. Understanding the power of that word will not only help you get more done, it will also make you feel more at peace in the moment.
Don’t get me wrong, it is totally okay to binge watch that new season of your favourite show on Netflix as long as you are aware of what you are doing. Try to say to yourself “today I just want to watch Netflix, because I deserve a day off”. That way you won’t end up watching just one episode… and one more… uhh, another one… for the entire day where you actually wanted to get something done.
Even if you’ve been procrastinating for the past week, month or year NOW is the time to change that. Right now you can do something productive. Right now you can change your perspective on work. Right now you can live your life to the fullest.
It is never too late to turn the day, week, month or year – better now than never.
Stay happy, stay beautiful
